Interventional Pain Management
Restoring function. Relieving pain. Returning you to life.
About
Dr. Hans Knopp trained at the intersection of two demanding disciplines: Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, which focuses on restoring function after injury or illness, and Interventional Pain Medicine, which addresses the structural and neurological sources of pain directly. That combination means he looks beyond a symptom to understand what is limiting you, and what it will take to get you back to the activities that matter.
As a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, Dr. Knopp trained in a tradition that treats the musculoskeletal system as central to overall health. This shapes how he evaluates patients: not just the site of pain, but how posture, movement patterns, and prior injuries contribute to the problem. Chronic pain is rarely a single-point failure, and treatment plans that ignore the whole person tend to produce limited results.
After completing his residency at Tufts Medical Center, he pursued a fellowship in Pain Medicine at UPMC, one of the country's leading academic medical centers for spine and pain care. That training gave him fluency with the full range of interventional procedures, from nerve blocks and epidural steroid injections to spinal cord stimulation and radiofrequency ablation.
Dr. Knopp has contributed to 25 peer-reviewed publications in PM&R and pain medicine, reflecting a career grounded in evidence. The goal of every treatment plan is measurable improvement in how you move, work, and live.
